Editor's note: During Spring Break, the Yukon Review went back to the fall sports season to highlight some area athletes competing at the next level. Madison Wrather shined in the classroom and on the field for the Northeastern Oklahoma State football team.

Memories were made for the Yukon baseball team this week as it tested its mettle against some new competition in Arizona. The Millers returned to Oklahoma after posting a 1-3 record but looked to parlay its experience into some wins against familiar foes.

Redshirt junior Vernon Turner wrapped up a dominating OU indoor career as a high jump national champion Saturday at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. “I’m so proud of our team’s performance at nationals,” said head coach Tim Langford.

Somewhere between the Pop Warner fields and stadiums holding thousands, football like other sports becomes a business. It is a way of making a living with the component of relationships.

The Yukon boys tennis team returned to action last week, traveling down the road to Owasso where they placed third. Kent Roberts opened with a match against Jack Auschwitz in No.

With a 4-0 start on the season, the Yukon boys soccer team is serving notice to Class 6A. The Millers are going to be a problem this season.

With weather suggesting winter break was closing in rather than spring break, the Yukon girls soccer team improved to 3-1 with a 7-0 demolition of Stillwater Thursday afternoon. Alix Regier scored three goals to lead the Millers and Neveah VanHoutan got the shutout in goal.

As the Yukon wrestling team bids farewell to five senior state qualifiers, the future remains bright for the program. The Millers took 12 to the state tournament but when the dust settled, only two placed.

Putnam City West has probably had enough of Yukon baseball. The Millers swept the Patriots with ease, turning in 18-0 and 15-1 victories Monday and Tuesday.
