Mayor’s annual prayer breakfast draws crowd; Guest Luke Holland speaks on “Community”

Yukon Mayor Shelli Selby’s annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast took place Fri., April 29, at 7:30 a.m., at the Dale Robertson Center, 1200 Lakeshore Drive in Yukon. The mayor’s guest speaker, Luke Holland, addressed a packed house on the topic of “Community.” A Bartlesville native who lives in Tulsa, Holland said, “I define ‘Community’ as love.” Holland, who is a fourth generation Oklahoman, said that his great-grandmother arrived in Muskogee from Arkansas in a covered wagon.

Filing period jumps off campaign season

On Friday, the filing period for the 2022 elections occurred. In total, 569 candidates placed their names on the ballot for a variety of state offices. This was the fewest number of candidates seeking state office since at least the 2000 election cycle.

Statesmen show up at Capitol

They say a statesman thinks of the next generation, not the next election. Oklahoma citizens owe a debt of gratitude to those statesmen who still serve in the Legislature and just gutted a self-dealing bill that would have enriched politicians while saddling Oklahoma taxpayers with greater debt.

Sen. Rosino receives OAOA Heritage Award

With over five years of legislative service to the State of Oklahoma, Senator Paul Rosino, has been awarded the honorable 2022 Heritage Award from the Oklahoma Airport Operators Association (OAOA). The award, which was established in 2009, honors individuals who have excelled in their service and dedication to aviation and aerospace progress and development and for outstanding contributions to the state’s second largest industry.

Six inducted into state Career Tech Hall of Fame

The Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation inducted six people into the Oklahoma Career and Technology Education Hall of Fame on Thursday evening. This year’s inductees are Kent Boggs, Carolyn Cotton, Nancy Randolph Davis, Bob Funk, Phil Waul and Greg Winters.
