Seven games into the season, the Mustang boy’s soccer team looked like they were already done. With a 2-5 record, they didn’t resemble the squad that had made it to the 6A semifinals the year before.

The Mustang girls had their hands full taking on rival Yukon in the opening round of the playoffs. When the two teams faced off to start the season, the Lady Broncos had been able to pull out a 1-0 win.

Mustang High School’s (MHS) annual Broncos Empowering A Society Together (BEAST) Week raised $60,343.14 this year. The event kicked off on March 23, culminating with the “Feed the BEAST” assembly held at MHS on Friday, April 1. However, the fundraiser is actually a yearround endeavor.

The Mustang slowpitch softball team had to travel to Tulsa last week for the start of the postseason. Despite being the reigning 6A champions, if they were going to defend their crown it was going to have to start on the road.

After winning its first slow-pitch title in 2021, the Mustang softball team was ready to get back on the field and to prepare to go after another gold ball. Mother Nature has not cooperated.

The Mustang baseball team got off to a slow start at the Edmond Memorial Festival last week. But they stormed to finish out the week on a high note.

Even though the 2021 basketball season has concluded, the Mustang athletic department has its eyes on the 2022-23 campaign. Last week MHS announced the teams that will compete in its annual Cornerstone Bank Mustang Holiday Classic, which has become one of the prime tournaments in the state.

Before his senior season began Cameron Broadus made a decision to get serious about football. It was something he hadn’t done to the full extent during his time at Mustang.

The Mustang Track and Field team was able to get in one meet before the winter storm arrived when it traveled to Edmond Santa Fe March 10. It was also their last competition before spring break.

Heading into their matchup with Tulsa Union, the Mustang girls basketball team knew exactly who they were facing. They had lost to the same team the previous year in the state quarterfinals and Mustang High School was looking to turn the tables on the Redhawks.
