Invasive zebra mussels discovered in two state lakes

Ardmore City Lake and Shawnee Twin Lakes now contain invasive zebra mussels for the first time, according to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The zebra mussel is a small mussel named for the striped pattern of its shell.

The publishers of the Oklahoma City Sentinel newspaper are in preliminary negotiations to acquire the newspaper assets of Chisholm Trails, LLC, the entity which publishes the Mustang News and the Yukon Review, said Rick Grellner, co-publisher of the Oklahoma City Sentinel.

Ripe for the picking

Berries and produce are almost ripe and ready at Buffalo Creek Berry Farm, 9211 Sloan Road in Mustang. Owner Bob Sloan said he plans to open his pick-yourown (P-Y-O) berry-produce farm to the public later this month.

Field set for basketball tournament

Even though the 2021 basketball season has concluded, the Mustang athletic department has its eyes on the 2022-23 campaign. Last week MHS announced the teams that will compete in its annual Cornerstone Bank Mustang Holiday Classic, which has become one of the prime tournaments in the state.
