Canyon Ridge student advances in spelling bee

A Canyon Ridge Intermediate fifth grader is one of 25 students in the 50-county region who will be advancing to the Thunder Regional Spelling Bee.

Aren Ramirez will compete in the spelling bee March 29. The winner of the spelling bee will go on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in late May.

The finalists had to excel in three preliminary local spelling bees in order to advance to the Thunder Regional. The spelling bees have included both spelling and vocabulary questions increasing in difficulty with each level.
