Last Friday afternoon, I had the opportunity to attend a short forum held at the Chickasha fairgrounds by U. S. Sen. James Lankford. He discussed the U.S.-Mexico border situation; Senator Lankford has firsthand knowledge as he has actually visited the area.

After listening for a few minutes, it occurred to me that it wouldn’t take much effort by the Biden Administration to improve the situation. Apparently, it is a mess because they want it to be a mess.

The national debt is now $30 trillion. It has doubled in 10 years, and those numbers do not include trillions more in unfunded obligations.

The evening prior to Senator Lankford’s trip back to Oklahoma, Congress had voted to extend the “continuing resolution” to fund the country through the middle of March. The U.S. is essentially bankrupt.

I asked about the “Waters of the U.S.” regulations, a huge Obama-era power grab of land rights that was cut back by the Trump Administration and that has been revived by the Biden group. I’ll write all about it in a future column. Senator Lankford mentioned that there is a court case challenging the WOTUS regulations in the works.

Abortion, education and a couple other topics briefly came up and it was time for the senator to move on to his next appointment.

He mentioned that this is an election year for him, and that he has both a primary challenger and hopefully a general election race. So, two campaigns this year.

Senator Lankford is a good man and Oklahoma is fortunate to have him. In his closing remarks, he mentioned that most of all he would like our prayers for guidance.

In a world that has lost its way, it is refreshing to have a politician who is not ashamed or afraid to proudly wear his Christian faith on his chest.

James Lankford is senator because he felt a calling in his heart; he doesn’t covet political power or financial gain. He seeks a better world for his children and grandchildren. Please join me in reelecting U.S. Sen. James Lankford. Chicken Fried Steak is a copyrighted column by G.W.
