The Mustang Track and Field team was able to get in one meet before the winter storm arrived when it traveled to Edmond Santa Fe March 10.

It was also their last competition before spring break.

The Mustang High School girls tied Lincoln Christian for seventh place with 40 points.

Edmond North took the team championship with 128 points. It held off Edmond Memorial, who was runner-up with 122 points.

Westmoore, Deer Creek and Edmond Santa Fe rounded out the top five.

On the boys’ side, the Broncos grabbed eighth place. Their 48 points were 80 points behind first-place Lincoln Christian.

Deer Creek, Westmoore, and Edmond North completed the top five.

The only Mustang athlete to take home an individual title was Kassidi Watkins.

The freshman grabbed the long jump championship with a leap of 17-2.25. Her nearest competition was Madison Schmidt, who finished with a 16-06.

Watkins took second in the girl’s 400-meter dash. She posted a 1:03. 78, which was just a little more than a second behind Lincoln’s Gabrielle DeGeorge.

Jaylin Adams also placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.44. She was edged out by Edmond North’s Saliva Tant, who ran a 51.14.

Aiden Edwards had a solid day for the Broncos. He placed second in 110-hurdles with a time of 15.77. He came back later and took second in the 300-hurdles with a time of 44.02.

Andrew Waller placed second in 1600. He ran a 4:50.39.

Mustang also placed in the 4x200 relay. It had a 1:34, which was six seconds behind Westmoore.

Mustang will not compete again until March 25 at Choctaw.
