Yukon former sub accused of possessing child porn

WALTER STUMPF

A former Yukon substitute teacher is free on bail after being accused of possessing more than 500 images of nude children along with several hours of what authorities say was child pornography.
Walter Stumpf, 66, was arrested Sept. 9 after authorities served a search warrant on his home near Surrey Hills.
According to a news release, the Canadian County sheriff’s office began investigating Stumpf after receiving a tip through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.
Sheriff Chris West said the national center had received a tip from America Online and Yahoo! that Stumpf had uploaded inappropriate images to his accounts.
During a search of Stumpf’s home, authorities allegedly found more than 500 images of nude children, some as young as 2 years old. Investigators also discovered more than 34 hours of videos that are believed to be child pornography, West said.
Several sexually related stories, many of which involved Stumpf and children, were found on the computer as well, West said.
Many of the stories are considered “snuff” stories, in which he fantasizes about killing children, West said.
“The introduction to the story also states he is a pedophile and a lover of young girls. These stories describe the victims coming from the Rainbow Girls and DeMolay organizations,” West said.
Those organizations are associated with the Masonic Lodge, of which Stumpf is connected.
Those stories, West said, create concerns that local children might be involved.
“As much as I hate to admit it, I would be seriously surprised if Stumpf hasn’t left a trail of carnage behind.  We are asking for anyone who has been a victim to call us at the sheriff’s office,” West said.
Stumpf served as a substitute teacher for the Yukon School District last year, the district confirmed.
He began working for the district Sept. 19 and left on May 16.
During his time with the district, he worked at Independent Elementary School and Yukon Middle School, according to the school district.
Stumpf was booked into the Canadian County jail on two counts of possessing child pornography. He had not been formally charged as of Tuesday.
