Southwest Covenant to open season at Class B Central Marlow

The Patriots football team will open the 2018 season at 7 p.m. Friday at Central Marlow.

The Bronchos enter the year after going 7-4 in 2017. Coach Keith Burton brings back running back Braden Edens, fullback Alex Allen and quarterback Bryson Johnson as skill players on offense.

On the offensive line, Central Marlow will have Tristen Jacks and Anthony Tointigh leading the way.

Defensively, the Bronchos will have Edens, Allen and Johnson all expected to make an impact. Also, freshman Landon Burton will look to have an early impact for Central Marlow.

Southwest Covenant enters the 2018 season without Sam Webb at quarterback for the first time in four years. Instead, it will be another Webb under center for the Patriots.

Ben Webb, Sam’s younger brother, will lead the SWC offense this fall. He will have senior playmakers Cade Shaw and Trevor Kelly to make his life easier.

Defensively, the Patriots lost a lot of size from last year’s team, but they return the bulk of their defense led by linebacker P.J. Riggs.
