Yukon dismantled Norman North 15-1 Monday at home in a game that was originally supposed to be played in Norman.
Due to Norman North’s field being too wet, the game was switched to Yukon.
The Millerettes had 13 hits and 12 RBIs. Brooklin Mathers had three hits and three RBIs. Ashlyn Bruce had four hits and two RBIs. Bre Johnson had one hit and three RBIs on a three-run homerun. Jordan Schlarb had and Parker Moore each had one hit and one RBI. Hannah Hurtz had two RBIs. McKenna Johnson had two hits and A.J. Rayburn had one hit.
Kaylee Bradley got her first varsity start and had a stellar performance in the circle for Yukon. The sophomore right-hander pitched all five innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Norman North scored its only run in the first inning and then it was all Yukon. The Millerettes put up two runs in the second inning, six runs in the third and seven in the fourth.
“This was fun,” Yukon coach Katy Hoke said. “The bats were working. Kaylee Bradley pitched well. I am really proud of her. This was a complete offensive performance. We made adjustments at the plate and executed. It was good to get a win in district. Our girls have been troopers in dealing with the weather. We have been stuck inside and having to hit all the time. We need to work on our defense, but we haven’t been able to.”
Yukon played in the Southmoore Festival on Friday and split two games. The Millerettes defeated Union 4-3 and lost to Broken Arrow.
Following Monday’s win against the Timberwolves, Yukon sat at 8-3 and 2-0 in district play.
