Every now and then you come across an athlete that can change the way you look at a sport.
Myka Heimbach is that person for Yukon High School. She is my No. 1 athlete at Yukon for the 2018-2019 school year.
The senior soccer player is not just the best overall athlete at Yukon High School, but she is arguably the best offensive girls soccer player in Oklahoma.
Heimbach led Class 6A in goals scored last spring with 26. She was named to the United Soccer Coaches Association All-Region Team. She is the first Yukon girls soccer player to receive that nomination.
Heimbach also received All-American votes from the same organization, which is the largest coaches organization in the world. She will undoubtedly make another run at All-American in 2019 and with another stellar year, I believe she will earn enough votes to make it happen.
When you talk about offensive players in girls soccer, Heimbach is a once-in-a-decade type of player. She has been named the District Offensive Player of the Year for the past two years and last year played 1,330 minutes for the Millerettes.
The high school soccer season is not until the spring, but when the ground thaws from winter and you are looking for something to do on a nice spring evening, come out to Miller Stadium and watch one of the best soccer players, not only at Yukon, not only in the state, but in this area of the country.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
