Yukon sweeps Bartlesville Tournament to improve to 19-6

Yukon traveled across the state to compete in the Bartlesville Tournament last Friday and Saturday and the Millers did not disappoint.

Yukon won the tournament championship in exciting five-set fashion with a three sets-to-two win over Shawnee in the title match.

Before the championship bout, the Millers beat Bartlesville three sets to one, Collinsville three sets to none, Bishop Kelley junior varsity three sets to none and Ponca City three sets to one.

Catherine Birkhead and Logan Lay were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Birkhead and Chloe Hartman led Yukon in passer rating for the weekend. The leading hitters were Mallory Scott, Sunny Middleton, Brianna Worth and Hartman.

Middleton and Lay led the squad in blocks. Haylee Fowler averaged 31 assists per match and Scott, Birkhead, Lay and Sidney Benge led the team in aces.

“We played great and have several great wins coming off of two tough matches last week,” Yukon coach Rachel Allred said. “We are facing two tough opponents this week with Westmoore and Mustang.”
