The Lady Patriots defeated Lawton Christian two sets to one in the title match to capture the Destiny Christian Tournament Championship last Saturday.
Southwest Covenant defeated Lawton Christian by winning the final two sets in a three-set match. The Patriots dropped the first set 24-26 but rebounded to take the second set 25-11 and the third set 25-12 to earn the victory.
It wasn’t the first time Southwest Covenant saw Lawton Christian in the tournament. The Lady Patriots played Lawton Christian in the pool play round of the tournament but the match ended in a tie with each team winning a set. Southwest Covenant won the first set 25-14 but dropped the second 22-25.
Southwest Covenant played two other matches in pool play. Its first match was against Cement and the second was against Liberty Christian. The Patriots didn’t lose a set in either match. They defeated Cement 25-18 and 25-10 and then beat Liberty Christian 25-12 and 25-22.
In the semifinal round, Southwest Covenant took on Wright Christian and won in straight sets 25-19 and 25-14.
All-in-all, the Lady Patriots won nine sets in the tournament, lost one and tied one.
Brianna Andus and Macie Noland were named to the Destiny Christian Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Southwest Covenant played at Oklahoma Christian School on Monday and then they will host Crossings School at 6 p.m. Thursday. Those results will be in Saturday’s Yukon Review.
