Yukon High School graduate Cameron Martin competed in the Big All-City Basketball Game on Thursday evening at Southmoore High School.
Martin played for the West Team, which defeated the East Team 134-132 in a high-flying, up tempo basketball game that had an NBA All-Star Game feel to it.
Martin said he was honored to get to play in the Big All-City Game.
“It was great getting to play with so many great players,” Martin said. “All these guys out here are special players and they are all going to play at the next level. There was lot of talent on the floor tonight.”
Instead of the normal 8-minute quarters in high school basketball, they played 12-minute quarters on Thursday night to try and get all the players as many minutes as possible.
Martin, at 6-foot-9, was the tallest player on the floor for both squads. He had 12 points and eight rebounds on the night.
Martin still has two more games to dawn the Yukon jersey before he leaves in August for Florida to play for Jacksonville State University.
The Yukon post player will compete in the Faith 7 All-Star Classic in June as one of the top seven players in Oklahoma against the top-7 players from Texas and then he will compete in the Large-School All-State Basketball Game in July as a part of the West Team.
Martin played the first four minutes of every quarter on Thursday night and got the start at center for the West Team.
He said getting to represent Yukon on Thursday night was a great feeling.
“To be able to represent Yukon is a pretty special feeling,” Martin said. “I think it has been a long time since Yukon has had a player in this game, so to be able to come out here and wear this uniform is an honor.”
