There is nothing like Disney World … especially when the trip is free.
Patrick and Ashleigh McClung, of Yukon, spent Dec. 19-21, enjoying the thrilling rides at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., after winning a contest sponsored by The Yukon Review.
The couple say it wasn’t their first trip to Disney, but it was the first without their two children.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Patrick McClung, who is a teacher with the Yukon School District.
Together, he and Ashleigh also own Spraycan Creative, a graphics design studio in downtown Yukon.
The couple received two nights at the Disney resort, where they visited Epcot and Magic Kingdom.
They plan to return, with their children, later this month for a family vacation.
“It was nice. It was the first trip we’ve taken alone. We acted like kids,” Ashleigh McClung said.
They also said they got the opportunity to ride the rides they wanted, and enjoy activities on their terms.
“We didn’t have to meet the needs of the kids,” said Ashleigh.
In addition, because of the time of the season, they didn’t have to wait in extremely long lines.
That meant lots of rides of the “Mine Train,” and “Haunted Mansion.”
They also got an opportunity to enjoy Disney’s “Test Track,” where you design a concept car and then take it for a spin.
“The trip was fantastic. We had a good time,” Patrick McClung said.
