The Yukon girls golf team got off to hot start to the 2017 season by winning the Oklahoma High School Girls Kickoff Classic on Thursday at the Lincoln East Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
The Millerettes had a combined score of 361 strokes.
Sophomore Alyssa Wilson led the team with a score of 80, while several school records were set by the Yukon girls.
First-year coach Patrick Courtney said he and his varsity team’s goal this year is to qualify for the 6A girls golf state tournament in Ponca City.
“The girls are focusing on their short game and putting to improve their scores this season,” Courtney said.
The Yukon girls will be led by seniors Hailee Thompson and Shelby James, as well as junior Mackena Tennyson and sophomore Ashlyn Acosta.
“All of our girls have made great gains in the offseason and we are all excited for this year of golf,” Courtney said.
