Mustang basketball: Lady Broncos capture 6A west regional championship

The Mustang girls basketball team pulled off the two-game sweep at the 6A west regional tournament at Norman High School. The Lady Broncos defeated Southmoore 54-41 last Thursday evening at NHS and then on Saturday afternoon, the Mustang girls pulled off the upset over regional host Norman with a 54-38 throttling of the Lady Tigers. The two wins puts the Lady Broncos in the driver’s seat to advance to the 6A state tournament. Mustang will play Edmond Santa Fe at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Deer Creek for the right to go to the state tournament. If Bronco girls lose to the T-Wolves, they will play the winner of Edmond Memorial and Westmoore at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Deer Creek High School. Mustang needs just one win in the area round to advance to state.
