Millerettes looking for fresh start in postseason

The Yukon girls basketball team has had an up-and-down season this year with several impressive wins and some tough defeats.

They will closed their regular season on Friday evening at Stillwater and entered that game with a record of 11-10.

The Millerettes will open postseason play on Thursday evening at Edmond Santa Fe High School, where they will take on Edmond North in the opening rough of the regional tournament.

The other two teams in the Santa Fe regional are Edmond Santa Fe and Capitol Hill. Yukon and Edmond North will play the first game on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by the Lady T-Wolves and Capitol Hill. The winners of the two games will play in the regional championship game on Saturday afternoon at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

The losers of the two Thursday games will be eliminated from postseason play and their seasons will be over. If Yukon beats Edmond North and then goes on to win the regional championship, they will only need one victory in the area round the following weekend to advance to the 6A State Basketball Tournament.

If the Millerettes, win against Edmond North and lose the regional title game, they will have to win two games in the area round to advance to state.

Edmond Santa Fe enters the regional with a No. 1 ranking, Edmond North is ranked No. 16, Yukon is ranked No. 18 and Capitol Hill is unranked.
