Wrestlers take sixth against strong field at Perry Tournament

The Yukon wrestling team finished in sixth-place out of 20 teams at the Perry Wrestling Tournament this past Friday and Saturday.

The Miller grapplers had five wrestlers place in their individual weight classes out of 14 total competitors.

In the 106-pound division, Braden Fowler had a record of 2-2 in the event. In the 113-pound weight class, Noah Hanscom went 3-3 and took sixth-place. In the 120-pound weight bracket, Kylon Burgert finished with a 2-2 record.

In the 126-pound weight bracket, Austin McCormack went 2-2 on the weekend. In the 132-pound weight class, Broc Bailey had a record of 3-2 in the tournament. In the 138-pound weight division, defending state champion Jaxen Gilmore made it to the championship bout but fell in the match and ended the weekend with a 4-1 mark.

In the 145-pound weight division, Cody Johnson went 0-2 in the event. In the 152-pound weight class, Baywiin Hollingshead finished with a record of 5-1 and took fifth-place. In the 160-pound weight bracket, defending state runner-up Chase Vincent was defeated in the championship bout and ended the tournament with a record of 4-1.

In the 170-pound weight bracket, Waylon Heger had a record of 4-2. In the 182-pound weight class, Brannen Pounds finished with a record of 1-2. In the 195-pound weight division, Colin Foster made it to the final match and fell in the bout going 4-1.

In the 220-pound weight class, Brett Gerber went 3-2 on the weekend and in the heavyweight division, Ashton Aldridge went 0-2 in the event.
