Yukon Parks and Recreation Director Jan Scott has been selected as this year’s City of Yukon’s “Employee of the Year.”
Scott was presented the award at the City of Yukon Employee Christmas Party on Dec. 9. She has served as director of the Parks and Recreation Department since May 1999. In her time with the City of Yukon, she has directed operations of three recreation centers, ten parks, and the Yukon Mobile Meals program.
“Jan and I have worked together at several places and we’re very blessed to have her,” said Yukon City Manager Jim Crosby. “She’s an excellent employee and totally dedicated. You can just look at all the wonderful things we do here. She keeps up with the parks and recreation program and she’s always coming up with new and innovative ideas.”
City employees participate in two rounds of voting to elect the award recipient. Other candidates for the award were Lavera “Shorty” Clevenger, Chris Cunningham, and Julia Puckett.
Scott and Crosby worked together in Oklahoma City before they both came to Yukon, and the city manager credits her with the outstanding job Scott does in taking care of facilities and scheduling and coordinating events each year.
“She shows up, she’ll work late and makes sure that everything’s taken care,” Crosby said. “She’s a tremendous asset to the city and deserves to be recognized for all she’s done.”
