Mary Lucille Hooker

Mary Lucille HookerMary Lucille Hooker, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 2, 2016. She was born in Oklahoma City to Riley and Francis Sutherland on March 26, 1929. Mary graduated from Putnam City High School in 1947. She was always a hard worker, working on Taylor’s vegetable farm and later her family farm.

She was married to William Miller, Sr. from Jan. 2, 1949 to 1955. Mary later married Gary Hooker on Sept. 13, 1962 in Oklahoma City. After her marriage to Gary, Mary worked as a waitress before working at AMC for several years. In 1977, she and her family moved to Mustang where she continued her work as a loving homemaker and seamstress. She demonstrated unwavering commitment to her family and is especially remembered for the loving care she provided for her nephew Scott, niece Stacey and grandsons Andrew and Jared. Mary enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching NASCAR.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary Hooker and brother Richard.

Mary is survived by her three children: Judith Dodderer and husband Raymond of Yukon, William Miller Jr. and wife Gail of Harrah, and Craig Hooker and wife Shelly of Yukon, and step-daughter Marta Lansdale and husband Terry of St. John, US Virgin Islands; four siblings: Alma Mixon, Leon Sutherland, Elaine Baty and Joyce Ann Abbott; seven grandchildren: Brigitte Finch and husband Brandon. Sean Miller and wife Amanda, Sara Lansdale, Andrew Dodderer, David Lansdale and wife Donna, Jared Hooker and wife Madison and Jessica Hooker, and seven great- grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 5 in the Chapel of McNeil’s Funeral Service, Mustang. Graveside services followed in the Alex Cemetery in Alex, Oklahoma.
