Yukon Swimming Invitational a success on all accounts

The Yukon swim teams hosted the Yukon Invitational this past Saturday at Mitch Park in Edmond. In the girls’ competition, there were 20 teams from all over the state at the event and in the boys’ competition, there were 18 teams.

The Miller boys finished in seventh-place with a total of 145.5 points. Putnam City North took first-place with 306 points. The Yukon girls took 10th place with 61.5 points, as Altus took first with 412 points.

Yukon coach Bruce Clifton was pleased with how the event went on Saturday and how his teams performed against tough competition.

“The Meet was a rousing success from an event standpoint,” Clifton said. “As for our team, they represented themselves and the school well. They boys finished 7th and the girls 10th, which actually shows a continued improvement both individually and as a team. Most everyone of our swimmers cut time on their seed time and once again we broke a number of school records. This Meet we broke 6 school records. In the relays the boys broke their own records in the 200 free and 400 free Relays. Individually, Braden Crawford broke the school records in the 200 free and 100 breast and Yitzhak Ramirez broke the school records for the 100 fly and the 500 free. Yitzhak was our lone medalist in the 500 free. Overall, I was pleased with how everything went at the Meet.”
