Swimming: No. 11 Mustang boys place fourth in Bixby, Yukon meets

The No. 11 Mustang boys finished fourth in both the 2016 Bixby Invitational at Bixby High School and the 2016 Yukon Invitational at the Mitch Park YMCA in Edmond Thursday and Saturday.

Matt Jensen (Sr.) led the way at Bixby, picking up his first win of the season while helping both the 200-medley and 200-freestyle relay teams finish second.

Jensen finished first in the 100-freestyle with a time of 1:01.60 and also finished eighth in the 100-breaststroke. He raced the second leg of the 200-medley relay with Jacob Hesser (Sr.), Zach Boyanton (Jr.) and Dane Bouse (So.) and swam the final leg of the 200-freestyle with Boyanton, Hesser and Martin Mayfield (Sr.).

Boyanton finished third in the 100-backstroke and swam the first leg of the fifth-place 200-freestyle relay team with Mayfield, Bouse and Lane Brown (Jr.). Hesser finished fourth in both the 200-freestyle and 100-breaststroke while Brown finished fourth in the 200-freestyle and ninth in the 200-medley. Mayfield finished ninth in the 100-butterfly and Coby Keller (So.) finished 10th in the 200-freestyle to round out Mustang’s top-10 performances.

Mustang finished with 258 points behind meet champion Ft. Gibson (441.5), No. 6 Bixby (300.5) and Bishop Kelley (270).

YUKON INVITE

Jensen and Brown helped lead Mustang to fourth place at Yukon.

The duo finished with the team’s only top-5 individual times and helped lead to relay teams to second and third place at the event.

Brown finished fourth in the 200-freestyle and swam the first leg of the second-place 200-medley relay team with Hesser, Boyanton and Jensen. Brown also swam the third leg of the third-place 200-freestyle relay team with Mayfield, Boyanton and Jensen and also finished seventh in the 100-butterfly. Jensen finished fifth in the 100-breaststroke.

Hesser finished in the top-10 twice, including a sixth-place finish in the 100-backstroke, a ninth-place finish in the 200-medley and an eighth-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay with Christian Langdon (Jr.), Keller and Bouse.
