Amber Tudor was named Shedeck Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2016-2017 school year. She is currently a first grade teacher at Shedeck. Mrs. Tudor graduated with honors from University of Central Oklahoma in December 2013. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the international education honor society at UCO. Immediately following graduation, she was hired on at Shedeck and feels blessed to have continued her teaching career in the same role for the past two years. Tudor was also voted “Yukon’s Best Teacher” last year through the Yukon Review.
Mrs. Tudor was completely taken by surprise when she learned that she had been selected by her peers and colleagues to represent Shedeck Elementary as Teacher of the Year. “I work alongside the most amazing and dedicated teachers. To even be considered for this honor after two and a half years in the classroom is very humbling and unexpected,” said Tudor.
Mrs. Tudor serves on Shedeck’s Leadership Committee and is the Professional Learning Community facilitator for her first grade team. She is currently working with first grade teachers across the district to create and implement common Math assessments.
If Mrs. Tudor had to pick one thing she loves most about teaching, without hesitation it is her students. “I look forward to seeing their faces every morning and I make sure they know that,” says Tudor. She finds great joy in finding ways to ignite an excitement for learning in her students. She feels one of her most important responsibilities as a teacher is to create a safe and loving classroom where every student feels valued. She states “Every day is a new adventure and I am willing to go where ever the day may lead.”
Amber and her husband Cody are raising their two handsome boys in what they consider to be “the BEST community in Oklahoma.” Amber graduated from Yukon in 2003 and is grateful to work in the same great school district that she feels blessed to be a product of.
