Swim teams perform well, break records in Norman meet

The Yukon boys and girls swim teams competed in the Norman High Swim Meet earlier this month on the University of Oklahoma’s campus in Norman.

The Miller boys broke school records in the 200-yard medley relay race, the 200-yard freestyle race, the 200-yard individual medley race, the 100-yard fly race and the 500-yard freestyle race.

“All in all, this is one of those Meets you take in and grow from,” Yukon coach Bruce Clifton said. “On the negative side of things, we don’t match up well with the Norman schools and Deer Creek has vastly improved, so we came out on the short end of things mostly. However, as a team we continued to make strides forward. We ended up breaking five more school records and many of the swimmers cut time, so that is what we will continue to focus on. As long as we keep moving in the right direction I’m pleased with how the kids are swimming. We have a long way to go as a team but we’re getting there.  And that is the important thing for now.”
