Hoppe named Central Elementary Teacher of the Year

Anna Hoppe was named Central’s Teacher of the Year for 2016. Anna is beginning her fifth year of teaching second grade, with all years at Central Elementary.

Mrs. Hoppe proudly represents Central. She is thrilled to represent all the teachers who have helped make her the teacher she is today. Co-worker, Candi Smith, has worked with Mrs. Hoppe for three years. “I love the passion, enthusiasm, and joy that Anna shares with her students and fellow teachers. Mrs. Hoppe loves being part of a cohesive team that engages students daily to help achieve that lightbulb moment.” Smith said.

At Central, Anna has served on the leadership and interview committees. She enjoys donating her time to support causes such as the Special Olympics, school functions, and fundraisers. She continually supports her students in their extracurricular activities by attending events outside of school.

One of her favorite things about teaching is walking into the building and being greeted with smiles, waves, and hugs from her current, past, and future students. Mrs. Hoppe expresses, “There’s not many professions, where you can walk in, and have 20 or more smiling faces and hugs ready to start a new day.”

Mrs. Hoppe and her husband of four years are 2006 Yukon High School Alumni. She has spent the past nine years working for Yukon Community Education with their Millers After School program and Millers at Camp during the summers. One could say that Anna is a “Miller” through and through.
