Jean Bunce, age 92, passed away on Oct. 12, 2016 at her home in Piedmont. She was born in Edmond on July 9, 1924 to Harry & Bessie Boyer Drake. Jean is the third generation on her family farm, homesteaded in 1889. She retired from Tinker Air Force Base after having spent a year in Vietnam as a procurement specialist. She was so touched by the plight of the people she met there that she and her beloved husband George sponsored a Vietnamese family after the fall of Vietnam. She loved to travel and was always ready to pack her bag. She had extensive hobbies and was very involved in all manner of crafts. She was an avid gardener and had a collection of more than 78 varieties of Iris. Jean doted on her children & pets. She was very involved with ancestry research and traced her family back to the Daughters of the American Revolution & the Grey Ladies.
She is survived by four daughters, two sons, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Her family also includes nine spouses and many close friends.
Funeral services were Oct. 17 in the Chapel of Groves-McNeil Funeral Service of Piedmont with interment at the Kansas Cemetery, Piedmont. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Crawford and the many nurses who so lovingly cared for her.
