Bobby George Cowan, age 78, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at a Yukon care facility. He was born Sept. 28, 1937 in Lawton to Kenneth and Elsie (Harbour) Cowan and grew up in southwestern Oklahoma.
He was a graduate of Hollis High School and spent his entire adult life as a self-employed painting contractor. He moved to Oklahoma City in 1965 and to Bethany in 1971 and was a longtime member of the IPHC where he was active in the Sunday School program at Northwest Christian Center.
He loved going to the lake, boating, photography, all OU sports and eating out, especially Adair’s Cafeteria, Pancho’s and any good buffet. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Newt. Survivors include his wife Viola of Yukon, two sons Bobby Cowan, ll and wife Kim of Yukon, Rev. Steve Cowan and wife Krista of Mustang, one daughter Sheila Cox and husband Rev. Tim of OKC.; also by nine grandchildren: Heather, Holly, Austin, Cameron, Colton, Steven, Taylor, Courtney and Makaylee, one great granddaughter Felicity, one brother Eugene and two sisters Darlene and Nancy.
In lieu of flowers any monetary donations can be made to MYChurch building fund in memory of Bob Cowan.
Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 in The Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Funeral Service, Mustang, with interment following in Resurrection Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
