Send-off for Mustang’s 1345th next Saturday

Mustang Public Schools and area residents have a unique opportunity to show support for the Oklahoma Army National Guard 1345th Transportation Company as they prepare to leave on a long deployment. The unit is stationed at the armory in Mustang.

The public is invited to the departure ceremony at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Mustang High School Event Center. The MHS choir will be singing the National Anthem and the school’s nationally recognized JROTC Bronco Battalion will be posting the colors.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these soldiers as they prepare for this mission,” said Dr. Sean McDaniel, superintendent of Mustang Public Schools. “We would like to see the Event Center packed in their honor.”

Elementary schools are also having a candy bar/snack drive to send each soldier off with a bag of snacks for their journey overseas. Anyone who would like to contribute to the snack drive can drop off donations at any of Mustang’s seven elementary schools during regular school hours.

Thank you Mustang Schools. My friends grandson is one of those brave young men & women. May I suggest a support group be started for these families.
