Football preview: Q&A with senior Brett Gerber

Senior feature Q&A with senior and starting inside linebacker Brett Gerber and Yukon Review sports editor Kyle Salomon

Kyle Salomon: How has practice been going so far?

Brett Gerber: Our defense has been flying around so far this year. We are making plays and playing with a lot of intensity.

KS: What would you like the identity of the defense to be this year?

BG: I want us to be rough, pounding and relentless this year. We don’t want anyone to score on us. Our motto is “Put the ball down”.

KS: What are the strengths of your defense?

BG: Our defensive line is the strength of our defense. They are a rough crew. They are always around the ball and they are always filling their gaps and making our jobs as linebackers easier.

KS: What would you like to improved?

BG: We just need to focus on alignments. We need to do our jobs and trust our brothers next to us.

KS: What will make this season a success?

BG: If we do what we are coached to do. If we listen to our coaches and execute what they tell us to do, it will be a good year.
