There’s a new face on the Yukon Public Schools’ Board of Education this school year who is motivated in wanting the best for the district’s students.
Jeff Behymer has a double interest guiding his desire to serve on the school board. He has a marketing degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a successful career working in industrial manufacturing and distribution.
And, with one daughter in the third grade at Ranchwood Elementary and an up and coming kindergartner waiting in the wings, he will able to provide a young parent’s perspective through first-hand experience.
“I felt that I could came in to do this and bring some of my business experience while also being a parent of kids in the district,” Behymer said. “I just thought that maybe some of the ways things are ran I might be able to give a different point of view.”
Behymer had words of praise for the other school board members: President Karen Youngblood, Vice-President Suzanne Cannon, Deputy Clerk Rex Van Meter and board member Leonard Wells.
“I think we have a good group,” he said of his fellow board members. “They are a good group of people who are committed to the success of our district and we have a lot of good people that work for the district.”
Currently, Behymer said he’s trying to absorb “the ebb and flow of the district and what it means to be a school board member.”
