Wanona 'Joyce' Bartodej

Wanona “Joyce” (Whetsell) Bartodej of Yukon, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the age of 91.

Joyce was born July 23, 1930 in Wise County Texas to Homer and Hazel (Stafford) Whetsell.

She is survived by her sons, Joel Bartodej and wife Cathy of Oklahoma City; and James Bartodej and wife Irma of Yukon.

She is also survived by her sister, Anne Jorrie of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren Janae Bartodej of Yukon, Kasey Kerr of Yukon, and Matthew Rundle of OklahomaCity; and great grandchildren Paizley and Brix Edwards of Yukon, and chosen grandchildren Mary Brawner of Mustang and Emily Bettis of Yukon.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Frank Joseph Bartodej, and her brother Bob Whetsell.

Joyce was a Yukon Public School teacher from 1971 to 1991 who taught children with learning difficulties and special education at Yukon Central Elementary School.

She was honored with “Teacher of the Year for 1977 in Yukon Public schools. The memorial service will be held at South Yukon Church of Christ at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022.
