Swimmers have strong showing at regional meet, qualify 21 for state

The Yukon boys and girls swim teams competed in the 6A West Regional Swim Meet this past weekend at Mitch Park in Edmond.
Here is the list of Yukon swimmers who qualified for the 6A State Swim Meet, which takes place next weekend at Jenks High School:
The Millerette swimmers are Lauren Boswell (junior), Cegan Cordes (freshman), Elise Flanders (junior), Madeline Gray (senior), Katie Johnson (sophomore), Kaylynn Johnson (sophomore), Madison Lee (sophomore), Amanda Toney (freshman), Alyssa Wilson (sophomore), Jaydan McCubbin (junior) and Carol Morrison (freshman).
The Miller swimmers are Isaiah Auld (freshman), Cooper Burlison (sophomore), Braden Crawford (junior), Ethan Davidson (junior), Blake Eberhardt (junior), Luke Gillespie (senior), Zach Mitchell (sophomore), Yitzhak Ramirez (sophomore), Jacob Smith (junior) and Jared Williams (freshman).
Yukon swimming coach Bruce Clifton said he was proud of his team for their effort at the regional meet.
“Regionals went pretty much how I figured they would go,” Clifton said. “We were able to get five-of-the-six relays to qualify for state and a couple of individuals, so I’m pleased with that. Eventually, we want more individuals to make it to state but this was a good start for my tenure as head coach. Yitzhak Ramirez did really well. He qualified in both of his events as well as being a member of two of the relays so he will have a full slate of events at State. Ethan Davidson was the other individual swimmer to make it but he’ll also be in a couple of the relays so he’ll be busy as well. What I am most excited about of this team is that we have only two seniors participating at State this year. So, all of the other swimmers will be able to come back next year having the experience of being at state. I think this year will be a big boost to our team going forward from here.”
